Hypercraft Unveils Razorback: The Future of Software-Defined Autonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV) Built for the Tactical Edge
PROVO, UT — Hypercraft, a leader in advanced propulsion and software-defined vehicle architecture, today announced the official launch of Razorback, a next-generation autonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV). Purpose-built as a flexible mission platform for high-consequence environments, Razorback is designed to replace traditional static hardware with a versatile, distributed autonomous operations node capable of dominating the modern battlespace.
As global threats evolve, the reliance on traditional logistics chains and personnel-heavy operations has become a critical liability. Razorback addresses these challenges by delivering persistent operational energy and long range ground mobility that enables new mission capabilities on a software-defined platform capable of transforming functionalities to meet new mission needs.
Performance Built for Modern Warfare
Razorback is powered by a high-performance Diesel hybrid-electric powertrain featuring a 50 kW range extender (95 kW Peak) and a combined 300 hp four-motor torque-vectoring drive system. This robust architecture enables the vehicle to carry a 2,400 lb payload over an extended 280-mile range at speeds up to 60 mph.
Key Features and Capabilities:
- Modern Software Architecture: A software-defined system at its core, with an open-architecture based on high-performance computing enabling AI, edge processing, and accelerated integration of autonomy and other mission systems.
- Tactical Microgrid: Razorback transforms the battlefield by providing 38 kW of exportable power to support drone and vehicle charging, directed energy weapons, ISR nodes, and electronic warfare, and power command posts.
- Modular Open System Architecture (MOSA): Decoupling hardware from software, Razorback’s central-zonal architecture ensures the platform is future-proof, allowing for over-the-air updates and rapid mission-set swaps.
- Redundant Advanced Mobility: Featuring 4-wheel hydraulic steering and neutral steer, 37-inch tires, and a rugged 148-inch chassis, the vehicle is engineered for the most austere and contested terrains. Operation can continue even if multiple motors are damaged, or range extender or energy storage system are damaged.
Multi-Mission Versatility
The Razorback platform is designed to support a wide array of mission sets without the need for a human footprint:
- Counter UAS: A low-signature platform for sensors and interceptors providing 360° protection against Group 1 and 2 UAS threats.
- Contested Logistics: Delivering critical supplies to forward positions, reducing risk to personnel.
- Mobile Export Power: Establishing energy nodes for command posts and charging stations.
- EW & Comms: Serving as an autonomous mobile comms relay node to bridge C2 gaps in obstructed terrain, as well as actively influence the battlespace with mobile EW.
- Casualty Evacuation: Powering life-sustaining equipment while removing casualties for treatment without endangering additional service members.
“Razorback isn’t just a vehicle; it’s the new tactical standard,” said Brian Bowers, CEO at Hypercraft. “Razorback responds to the dynamic demands of modern warfare, unifying high-capacity power export in a high-performance off-road vehicle with advanced autonomous capabilities to ensure that forward operations succeed in an ever-changing environment.”
The future of the tactical edge is software-defined, and with the launch of Razorback, Hypercraft is leading the charge in autonomous warfare.
